Nestled in the vibrant heart of Harlem, just around the corner from the iconic Apollo Theater, Sugar Monk is a cocktail bar that pays tribute to the historic speakeasies that once thrived in this neighborhood. Our cocktails are crafted with the freshest ingredients and premium spirits, complemented by an assortment of house-made artisanal Amari, liqueurs, bitters, infusions, and extracts, all elegantly presented for your enjoyment.
We are proud to collaborate with renowned forager Tama Matsuoka Wong, who provides us with wild plants, roots, fruits, and flowers—often overlooked yet bursting with flavor—allowing us to create drinks that reconnect us with the essence of the natural world.
In addition to our signature cocktails, we offer a carefully curated selection of New and Old-World wines, a range of top-shelf spirits, craft beers, and a menu featuring delightful small plates and desserts.
At Sugar Monk, our mission is to be an integral part of the diverse Harlem community and to contribute to its rich cultural tapestry. While we welcome patrons from all walks of life, we take pride in our role as a neighborhood hub, actively engaging with local leaders and organizations.
Your experience is guided by Ektoras Binikos, an accomplished mixologist and visual artist, and Simon Jutras, a photographer and designer. Their partnership was born from a shared vision to revive the spirit of the Harlem speakeasy as a sanctuary for creativity and connection.
